Michael Plante, a real estate broker for 43 years, is a first-time candidate and has not served on any boards or committees. He moved to town in 1968.

Campaign Platform

Michael Plante’s announcement post on Facebook states the following:

I’m excited to announce it’s official I am on the ballot to run for town council in North Smithfield. If you live in NS I’d like to ask for your support. I’ve been a proud NS resident since 1968 and I’m running because I feel for too long things just don’t get done and these delays or deliberate neglect have cost the tax payers millions. I’ve been a real estate broker for 43 years and real estate is the business of getting things done. I have served in every capacity including as a broker/salesperson, as a build and a manager of 2 real estate sales centers for a Fortunre 500 company. I managed 160 employees and agents with a sales volume of 200 million and a combined operating budget of over 6 million. I’ve never met a budget that doesn’t have fat to cut. I’ve served as presdient and as a director of the multiple listing service a 3000+ plus member realtor organization also with a multi million dollar budget. I feel I have a lot to offer from my business experience and management of people. It is obvious our town needs to increase its tax base to reduce individual tax burdens by being pro development and I mean roof tops not solar panels. These are just some highlights.
